Operation Overlord

VE Day
CONGRATULATIONS on the victory of the war. I just finsihed getting news of the Germans surrender, not like they had much choice. The new Fuehrer, Carl Durnitz, signed over Germany and has officially claimed defeat. I'm especially proud of your leadership on D-Day, and believe it was a big part in securing this victory. After a rough start with not only the havy casualties on the American army but also the failure of securing the Port of Cherbourg, you were able to line up with the British and Canadian troops to not jeapordize the Allies chance of succeeding in the war. I am proud to call myself American.

My Life Be Like- Operation Overlord Eve
Major General William Joseph Donovan.
The weather has delayed the anticipated battle to approximatly midnight. At this time the Germans will be awaiting your arrival. Take all necessary tactics from my former letters into consideration. Here are a few extra pointers to tell your troops before the attack.
- advance together
- no gaps
- once landed on the beaches storm the Germans (Germans won't be expecting this fast attack because they think you will have problems with landing due to lack of landing crafts)
- Secure Port of Cherbourg (this is essential because it is a deep water port that can handle our allied supply ships
P.S. Stay calm and carry on!
Yours Truly,
Agent Trooper Scooper

My Life Be Like - 4 Weeks Until Operation Overlord
Dear Mystery Man (Major General William Joseph Donovan)
I just woke up from a really horrible nightmare - the 3rd one tonight. I can't get the gruesome images of the failures of Dieppe out of my head! Thankfully, you have convinced me that we will be prepared for this battle. With our advanced, well-trained troops and our plethora of heavy artillery, where could we possibly go wrong? Our soldiers are braver . . . what's left of them, at least. All in all, we are prepared, aren't we?
Enough of this romantic banter.
Now for your update from behind the German front. I have been having a regular afternoon tea with General Erwin Rommel, who noted that I am quite a fine German boy . . . so I've been able to milk some information out of him. Under his direction, they have been constructing the "Atlantic Wall", a group of defences that run from Denmark to the Franco-Spanish border. It is vital that you warn your paratroopers that German engineers have strung wires across low-lying areas in order to stop gliders from landing. Try to steer away from these areas.
This is all I have been able to muster since the last time I wrote;

My Life Be Like - 6 Months Until Operation Overlord
Dear Bebe G (Major General William Joseph Donovan),
I'm sorry I haven't written you in a while; I've been thinking about us lately, sometimes I can't sleep. The weather patterns have become increasingly inconsistent as of late; a few words of preparation . It is crucial that you bring all accessible tanks and train infantry to approach the beaches and be able to defend themself from rapid gunfire. It will be necessary to use paratroopers in order to disorient the German troops, since they believe they have a concrete idea of where you will be landing in six months. Be prepared to land strategically . . . the Germans have very strong defensive strategies, which will become effective immediately at the sight of an Allied soldier.
Kisses,
Agent Trooper Scooper

My Life Be Like - 1 Year Until Operation Overlord
Dear Beloved G (Major General William Joseph Donovan)
I have been at a training camp here in Nazi Germany for a year in preparation for Operation Overlord. As an American spy under your watchful eye, I have been located in Germany to better understand their strategic planning for this anticipated battle. German General Erwin Rommel's plan for the allied attack on Pas de Calais was to initiate gunfire as first sighting of allied troops, even if this means slaughtering men before they reach the beach. They are referring to this as merely "defensive strategy". Knowing the allied plans well, their actual battle location was Normandy because it was less heavily defended than thePas de Calais. The Germans seem unaware of your decisions.
Love,
Agent TrooperScooper
